Pt1.
Lub-dub. Lub-dub.
Was the sound of her heart beating in her head. It's all she could hear. No voices.. no blaster fire, not even the sound of breaking glass as a man flew out the window of the thirty story business tower that belonged to Tristian Sulli. She out stretched her hand as if willing everything to just stop. She felt pressure on her shoulder, and she turned instinctively, lightsaber ignited in her left hand.. ready to face anyone. Jedi Master Rhi Shu looked at her with such inner peace. How could he be so calm? Everything was falling apart right before their eyes. Soundlessly he guided her back, behind an over turned duracret pillar. "Relax.. calm your self." His voice was strong. So gentle. "Just a minor set back." He had assured her. With a nod of her head, Zowie took a deep breath. Slowly the sounds of the event unfolding before her resounded back to her ears. Everything began to catch up to her. "Forgive me.." Was all she could mumble.
"Don't be so hard on yourself. Now come.. negotiations have obviously failed. We are nothing but ambassadors and peace keepers, and out-landers to these people." Master Rhi settled his eyes on his young student. "You have much to learn.. you cannot save everyone..." His voice trailed off. It was at just that moment.. a flash of a warning flickered through her thoughts, and she could tell Master Rhi had sensed it as well. In one fluid motion, there was only time for a single action. She felt her Master's hands on her back and she felt him shove, backed with the power of the force.. flinging her forward. She barely had enough time to shield her face with her forearms before she impacted the glass and it shattered as her body flew through the window.
The explosion that erupted only seconds later sent more glass and debris following. Moments.. no seconds was the time period she had to react. As she free fell surrounded by the contents of the building, she kicked off a desk that was falling with her. The heat.. the vague pain of glass shards breaking the surface of her skin.. The motion propelled her farther away as she fell.. into the back of a passing speeder, right through the glass sun roof. The driver was trying to avoid the sudden explosion and imminent crumble of the building.. she swerved, nearly loosing control of the vehicle.
Zowie's vision was swimming.. fog was clouding everything once again, the face of a woman was in view,yelling.. horrified at her. It was the last thing she saw before she lost consciousness.
She spent over a week in the Jedi Temple's medical facility. And when she awoke.. no one was there, except the machinery she was hooked up to. The beeping of her heart and pulse monitor.. the white walls, sheets and blankets. Her eyes opened widely as she sat up abruptly, ripping the wires from her arm. Alarms started sounding as a medical droid rushed in to try and prevent her from causing any further damage. She shoved the droid as hard as she could.. which right now took all of the strength she had to force the clunky piece of machinery out of her way. Dressed in nothing but a medical gown, her bare feet slapped the marble floor as she moved down the hall way. In her mind she was running, when in fact she could barely walk. She made it down the hall and to a window before a nurse went to grab her.. but the motion was never completed.. and the nurse shrank back as a Jedi walked up behind Zowie. The young Jedi girl, still pale with recovery extended her palm, outstretched to the window, pressing against the glass.
"....He's gone.. isn't he?" She didn't need to hear the answer. Fresh blood dripped from the arm she had ripped the needles from. Physical pain.. was nothing compared to what could be felt in her heart. The Jedi offered no verbal response..but received one through the force. With her Eyes closed, he continued,"Do not feel sorrow for his death. Rejoice in his joining of the Force." His voice only echoed to her ears. "..Just.. give me time." Is all she replied with. The doctor stepped back from the younger Jedi, and turned to the nurse giving her instructions.. before walking off. He would of course report to the Council that she has regained consciousness.
Starring out the window, her vision blurred once more. Not from physical injuries, but from the tears pooling in the corners of her eyes, now streaming down her cheeks.
